COLOM, Josep - PartitionCoulAt the moment he is Professor of Flute in Real Conservatorio Superior de Música of Madrid.

“I was born in Barcelona in 1947. Music was something very important and daily in my familiar atmosphere since I have memory. He was not habitual then in Spain. Without a doubt this circumstance and the fact that my parents, without being musical of profession, would support to me unconditionally, as much emotionally as economically, has allowed me to enjoy this office all the life.

“In my youth I gained some contests. The international of Jaén – in 1977 – and Santander – in 1978 – helped me to begin to be known in Spain; much more behind schedule, the Ministry of Culture of Spain granted the National Prize of Music, that I especially have considers by having it to the esteem of my colleagues of profession. In 80 years my public activity increased little by little, and at present I touch practically with all the Spanish orchestras – and great directors, as well as, in recital and music of camera, the main festivals and audiences.

“Also outside the borders I maintain a remarkable activity, particularly in France, where I lived during enough years, studying in the École Regulate to him of Musique, founded by Alfred Cortot and where I have recorded most of my discography for the seal Sends it, with music of as diverse authors as Brahms, Franck, Blasco de Nebra, Mompou and Falla.

“Recently seal RTVE has published a DVD with the third concert of Prokofiev and a CD with works of Chopin, Debussy and Ravel, live recordings of the file of Classic Radio within the series Great Spanish Pianists. Definitively, I prefer the live recordings although they are more imperfect. They are more real. My last recording is an attempt to recreate the spirit of a concert in direct, in addition to reuniting my last aesthetic proposals. One is a called CD Has a discussion (Eudora seal), where I interpret works of Mozart and Chopin in rotation, and which treatment to demystify the stylistic classifications that classify to the classic or “romantic composers as “.

“Many musicians have influenced and influence in my musical evolution. I want to honor in my beginnings to the composer (and at that time also pianist) Joan Guinjoan, who helped to develop a way me to approach music and the pianística execution much more rational and structured.

“A reserved temperament and introvert cause that my world is the recital and the music of camera, although I have not known to resign to the occasions to enjoy the wonders of the repertoire orchestra. I do not want to initiate a list of the orchestras, directors, quartets and musicians generally with whom I have shared great moments because inevitably it would forget to many and all have or have had importance for me.

“The pedagogy has little by little become something very valuable and an occasion – thanks in contact with the youngest musicians to renew the enthusiasm by the rediscovery of the great repertoire. In addition to giving skillful classes regularly, I taught, from his foundation in 1990, the Classroom of Music of the University of Alcala de Henares; and during several academic courses I have collaborated with the Conservatory Superior of Aragon. In 2012 I opened to a new pedagogical stage in the Conservatori Superior of the Liceu, in Barcelona.

“To make music it is a great privilege and I give thanks to all the people who have shared what for me it is a daily miracle.

Although he affirms to be an especially French pianist, Denis Pascal occupies the singular position that to him multiple and crucial encounter confer. Student of Pierre Sancan and after Jacques Rouvier in the CNSM of Paris, realised studies of improvement with Léon Fleisher. Laureate already in the international contests of Lisbon, Zurich and the Concert Artist Guild of New York, marched to the USA to continue its formation with György Sebök in the University of Indiana, Bloomington, during three years. Numerous collaborations and tournées with the great Janos Starker cellist came soon. All these essential encounter exerted a decisive influence on their musical conception: light of all decorative temptation can be affirmed that Pascal has done hers the musical tradition of Central Europe, dyed of humanism and worried to realise an approach to the score without concessions, to years.

Denis Pascal as much applies to this ethics with rigor and certainty in the lisztiano repertoire as in impresionist music or the post-romantic scores. Its vision, singular at all the levels, of the pianístico repertoire, as well as their ardor when defending the works more infrequent not knowing and do of him one of the most interesting artists of the French and international scene.

Denis Pascal offers concerts in France throughout the world and, as soloist and camerista. Headress frequently in the USA - Lincoln Center and Merkin Hall of New York, Kennedy Center de Washington, as well as in Europe (concerts in Palermo, Rome, Venice, Lisbon or Helsinki). In Paris, the public of Théâtre DES Champs-Elysées, the Théâtre du Châtelet, the Théâtre of the Ville, Leave Gaveau to him and of the Garnier Opera it has been able to applaud to him in numerous occasions; as well as the one of the international festivals in which it has participated.

The discography of Denis Pascal reflects, naturally, its musical ideas. For the French seal Polymnie it has recorded the integral of the Hungarian Rhapsodies of Franz Liszt, with an expressive force that unanimously has been praised by the musical press, having received a Choc of the Le Monde magazine of the Musique, the Prize of the Association Française Franz Liszt, and a distinction as “Disc Recommended by the Classica magazine. Recently it has recorded the Concert for violin, quartet of cord and piano of Chausson, also for Polymnie, work that an enthusiastic welcome of the critic has received. Its collaboration with the orchestra Them Siècles de François-Xavier Roth, as soloist of both Concerts of Chopin (recorded by Polymnie) has renewed our vision of the sonoridades of these emblematic works, to the being interpreted in a Pleyel piano of the 1900, of the collection of Alfred Cortot, and with instruments of time. Finally, in March of 2008, its CD Jean Wiener: Pièces pour piano has obtained a Tuning fork d'Or of the French magazine Tuning fork.

Educator unanimously appreciated, has been during several years Professor Asistente de Michel Béroff in the CNSM of Paris and the CNSM of Lyons, and has contributed to the didactic work elaboration diverse in Cité of the Musique of Paris.
